Holiday Ornaments

From road trips to nurseries to unpacking boxes labeled HOLIDAY DECORATIONS, it seems everyone is ready to deck the halls. And, in many cases, the holiday tree is one of the highest priorities. (Runner up to outdoor lights, for those who brave the conditions for sparkling eaves.)

Personally, my decorating effort is limited. Partially due to our city-sized living quarters and holiday travel, but also due to my husband’s flashbacks of decorating the family tree as a child (It might be familiar to some of you). Despite our modest effort, we do enjoy pulling out the holiday ornaments and remembering all the people and events that have contributed to our collection of keepsakes, even if they never make it on the tree. My mom is responsible for our ornament base, gifting me one each year of my life. Adding to the collection are wonderful handcrafted creations by my father-in-law and gifts from friends and family.

Each year I also get to peek at the ornaments Paper Source has lined up for the holidays, then I spend weeks deciding which ones to purchase — there is someone that comes to mind for each one. Nautical icons like whales, octopus, red lobster and the flashy mermaid are great for my seafaring friends. And there are plenty of adorable dog ornaments for my pals with pets – check out the Dachshund, Dalmatian, Beagle & Pug ornaments at play in our assortment. There are also wonderful glitter varieties and large globe ornaments — perfect accents for those with traditional trees.

What about your tree? Do you prefer the traditional look of big sparkly globes or do you collect keepsakes? Is it the same tree every year or do you change things up each season? Tell us your favorite part of decking the halls.

Great ornament round-up! I love mixing traditional decor with non-tradtional decor for the holidays. I made this origami fan ornament with paper from Paper Source. You truly have the most beautiful papers and they are always inspiring me to create new designs.
